The International Accreditation Board of Standard Institutions was founded in 1996 in response to a UK Government request that certification bodies should work together to provide a collective input by a wide range of organizations as the lead of an international board for accredited third party certification bodies.
IABSI actively promotes international accredited certification and works with government departments, trading standards, purchasers and specifiers and other stakeholders to promote its benefits. Membership of IABSI is restricted to certification bodies that are accredited by IABSI or another recognized national accreditation body, or that are actively seeking international accreditation, however we are an independent service provider offering registration services outside the scope of EU regulation directive 765/08.
